Christine Fulton serves as the Director of Curriculum and Instruction for Math and Science in grades 3-8 at Akili Academy, where she was previously a classroom teacher for six years. Christine formerly served as the grade-level leader for third grade teachers. Under Christine’s leadership, the third grade team consistently met and exceeded students’ achievement goals in reading level and state testing scores. The students in Christine’s classroom demonstrated especially significant academic growth: in the 2012-2013 school year, her students were in the 96th percentile of student growth across Louisiana, as measured by their iLEAP scores. In 2013, she was featured in a series of professional development videos created by the School Improvement Network. Christine was recognized by The Achievement Network as the 2013-2014 Teacher of the Year for her data-driven approach to teaching, her collaboration with her team members, and her dedication to excellence in the classroom.
Since taking on the Director of Curriculum and Instruction role in 2014, Christine has participated in a number of fellowships focused on leadership and equity in schools including Leading Educators, Leaders of Emerging Networks of Schools, and the Equity Influencer Residency with UnboundEd. She holds a bachelor’s degree in child psychology and early childhood education from Tulane University.
